Membership

NAMI San Fernando Valley is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by mental illness. With your support and generosity,
we are able to continue with our many programs.

These programs are always FREE OF CHARGE and are conducted by NAMI-SFV trained teachers and facilitators. They include Family to Family classes, Peer to Peer programs, Expert Speaker meetings, Support Groups, a lending library, an informative newsletter and resource directory mailed to your home with news about medications, treatments, coping skills, disability benefits and more. Membership fees also keep our website updated with vital information and resources and provides materials for Health Fairs and other outreach events throughout the greater San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valley.

Become a NAMI-SFV Member

NAMI-SFV is an all-volunteer organization established in 1979 and dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by mental illness. We provide education, support and advocacy and have offered hope and help to thousands of people through the years. We have no paid employees. The organization is run entirely by volunteers, non-professional laypersons elected by and from the membership.

All of our services and programs are always offered free of charge to the community . Other than the small annual membership dues donation from those who wish to join, there are no charges or fees of any kind.

Your membership, or gift of membership, supports our battle against stigma, discrimination and limited services. This is important in a society that doesn’t understand and seems to wish those with mental illness would just “go way”

Membership means….

NAMI-SFV newsletter with resource directory mailed to your home with news on medications, treatments, coping skills, disability benefits and more.
Meetings (for those who wish to attend) All NAMI-SFV members have a voice in NAMI-SFV governance and can vote to elect board members and on other issues
Committee service - All NAMI members are encouraged to volunteer on any of our standing committees including NAMI WALK, Technology , Special Projects and others. Contact us for more information.
Support group meetings – Nine meetings each month scheduled at various locations and times to ensure members and our community can benefit from trained volunteer facilitators who understand issues and challenges of living with mental illness or caring for a loved one with mental illness.

Library of books, videos and free pamphlet rack at speaker meetings

Low income and professional membership levels:
NAMI-SFV offers a discounted $1.00 membership for those on
Disability (SSI or SDI) and welcomes mental health professionals
who may benefit from our programs at discounted rate.
