Mental Illness Awareness Week October 01-08

Although people live with mental illness throughout the year, in October we set aside a week to raise awareness to guarantee they will be in our thoughts all year long. In 1990, the U.S. Congress established the first week of October as Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) in recognition of NAMI's efforts to raise mental illness awareness. It presents an opportunity to all NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates across the country to work together in communities to achieve the NAMI mission through outreach, education and advocacy. Each year, NAMI SFV holds our NAMIWALKS fundraiser in October, and each year, we work to provide services and programs to effectively serve our community. Your donation now, or any time, all year long, will help us achieve our mission of improving the lives of those living with severe mental illness. Ralph’s Grocery will donate up to 4% of your grocery purchases to NAMI-SFV when you register online for their Community Programs at www.ralphs.com

You will need your Ralph’s Rewards card with the 12-digit number on the back to register. It’s simple. Here’s how:
First click “Services” on the toolbar. Next, click “Community Contribution.” Then click the “Enroll” button under the Participant heading. Fill out the required information and under the drop down menu pick National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) SFV. You will need to scroll all the way through the list to be sure you pick our affiliate, SFV.
